The success of a stained glass panel depends not only on the design but also on the hues of the various pieces of glass and the way that they interact, the degree of obscurity required, the size of the panel and any need for restraints or supports, the final positioning of the panel and the amount and source of available light.
Glasswork will work with the client, taking account of these issues, to ensure that any problems are resolved before manufacture.
Glasswork uses traditional techinques in the making of a stained glass window. Each piece of glass is hand cut to shape and joined using lead channelling and solder. If the design calls for painting, staining or enamelling, these will be applied and kiln fired to
create a permanent bond. The windows are finally waterproofed with leaded light putty, and then polished ready for installation.
Glasswork either uses trusted and experienced glaziers to fit the panel or can work with and advise the client's team.
